Emergency Essentials in a Crisis!
An emergency can mean something which may come unexpectedly without any kind of warning. It can be good that some preparations may be made for it so that going through the emergency can become a little easy. As it can be presumed, not many steps can be taken during the time of an emergency so prior readiness can be helpful.
Emergency essentials can include the essential equipment and gear which can come in handy for survival purposes. An emergency can arise after a natural disaster or manmade disasters. The point of preparing should be to survive in a hostile situation where basic necessities may not be available or have temporarily gone similar to after disaster situations where facilities were available but they have left for a moment until the rehabilitation can begin.
Food and water items can be said as some of the most essential things required because human needs both of these to live and stay healthy. An emergency can also include some temporary events like power outage or being stranded somewhere. In both cases, there may not be much of a chance that cooking facilities may be available. Because of this, the food kept should be eatable without any need of cooking or similar treatment. It should also be able to last long so that it can be kept at a place for later use.
The water used should also be clean. Few water purification tablets should also be used so that they can purify any contaminated water to make it safe for drinking. It should also be kept in mind that one person can use up to one gallon or about four liters of water in a single day.
A flashlight and radio should also be kept which preferably should be workable by hand power. Extra batteries can also become a useful backup in case they are needed for long operation time of a flashlight, radio or any other equipment. Some dynamo radios and flashlights also have option to charge a cell phone. This can also be helpful if there is any signal available but the cell phone’s battery is low or dead.
In emergency conditions, a heartbeat monitor and blood pressure monitor can be kept if a member has specific condition which may need some monitoring. Appropriate medicines should also be available nearby so that they can be given to a patient. Warm blankets and clothes can also protect people from cold weather and its bad effects to the health.
