There are Snipers in Paintball.
Fact or Myth?
Truth is, this has even been something discussed on Mythbusters.
The answer to the question really varies based on what your personal definition of a sniper is.
Some people believe snipers MUST shoot much longer ranges than other players, and must always do one-shot kills from a concealed position.
Some people believe in differing ways, but the main concepts of “sniping” in paintball are stealth and accuracy. These are quite hard to maintain in paintball.

For one, you’re shooting a round projective (not that accurate to begin with) which is filled with paint, which destroys all skill to accuracy. It’s very difficult to get a one-shot one-hit from a long range in paintball. This aspect of a sniper is pretty much destroyed simply by the ammunition used in the sport.

Others might define a paintball sniper as someone who plays paintball, but plays from a concealed position and relies on stealth to win the game. In this aspect, yes, paintball snipers may exist in paintball. People are easily allowed to hide, camoflauge, and remain hidden from the enemy while firing. This is relatively hard to do unless you hit the enemy target immediately and aren’t required to fire several rounds; they’ll figure out your position and will typically take you down eventually.

So as far as paintball snipers go, they don’t exist to the fullest. However, I prefer the term marksman, because they are more similar to a marksman in terms of paintball.

For equipment, I wouldn’t get a “sniper kit”. These kits are extremely expensive, and give you several useless parts. For one, a red dot scope, or your traditional scope are both horrible to try and use in paintball. Paintballs aren’t accurate! Therefore the point of a scope does what? Nothing. It wastes your time and tactics with trying to aim.

“Sniper Barrels” are never to be 3 feet long. Don’t go over 16 inches. After a good 16 inches, you’re going to start losing accuracy and power, believe it or not. Flat lines are about the best barrel system a marksman
could ever have. They double your effective range, seriously. It’s true that the balls may not always break at such a range, but the accuracy is so much better, and there is no need to arc your shots anymore-they all travel in straight lines!

So overall, sniping may be possible in paintball, assuming the definition is the shooting from a concealed position. However, actually scoping in and taking down enemies from a much longer distance than what they can shoot you at is highly unlikely in a sport with such inaccurate ammunition such as paintball.

This is one of the most frequently asked questions from Ghillie Suit owners. For military personnel and snipers whose suits are sometimes quickly assembled and are never intended to be used for more than just a few days at a time. The case for Hunters and Paintball enthusiasts who are proud of their Ghillie Suits are much more concerned about how their suit will survive the washing machine - which for Ghillie Suits, its their Kryptonite.

If you purchased a commercially manufactured Ghillie Suit, meaning you did not make your Ghillie Suit - then its most likely made out burlap cloth or jute twine. Ghillie Suits made out of these materials, washing them in a machine is highly discouraged, because the cloth, the artificial twigs and leaves are much too sensitive for the rigorous washing and drying cycle. Furthermore, washing your Ghillie Suit will remove or reduce the flame retardant it was treated in.

On the other hand, Ghillie Suit owners have told me that if you wash one piece at a time on the gentle cycle and on medium dry-heat - their Ghillie Suits have lived to fight another battle, or otherwise have come out fairly well. Though, it’s the case for some other Ghillie Suit owners who have reported that their Ghillie Suits becomes fluffier, leaves fur and increasingly becomes less usable.

While the reports are mixed about whether washing your Ghillie in a machine damages your suit or not, everyone says that their Ghillie Suit smells like lemons - which is not good. To avoid try washing your Ghillie Suit in a non-scent soap or less intense smelling soap. Remember, animals “early warning system” to thwart predators is their ability to scent out danger. To get your Ghillie Suit smelling like forest and mud, I suggest you start rolling around in dirt, pour manure and other natural environments that you can find to start getting that “natural” scent back.

If your interested in purchasing a Ghillie Suit or other Ghillie Suit Accessories visit GhillieGear.com which also has other great products for the outdoors.

In the case of potential disaster you need to be self-sufficient for a minimum of 72 hours. That means 72 hours survival supplies food and gear needs to be available according to the minimum time recommended by various government sources. The 72 hours survival supplies food and gear provided by a Survival Kit is designed to support a family of four for three days. It consists of emergency food, water and shelter, first aid and sanitation, lighting and communication supplies. An emergency blanket should be included and various essential tools like a hammer and screw driver and a whistle [and that might be an important item].

In the Essentials Emergency 72 Hour Kit, provides survival supplies food and gear which is valid for up to 5 years: one of the questionable advantages of purchasing a fully fitted 72 hours survival supplies food and gear kit is that all the limited shelf items expire together. Naturally, this would cut down on time when it comes to the twice yearly checks. It may, or may not, be cheaper to purchase items separately, especially as the Essentials Emergency Survival Bag only contains just 50oz of water: not very much water, even in an emergency. If you want a more upgraded product you can obtain an up market version, the Deluxe Emergency Survival Bag.

One of the advantages of purchasing a full-fledged 72 hours survival supplies food and gear is that the food and water expires only after 5 years. One thing to remember is to keep the fully complete 72 hours survival supplies food and gear near the door in the house, outside in a safe place in the yard, or even in your vehicle. Basic supplies in the basic kit needs to be a flashlight, together with appropriate batteries; a radio with batteries – or even one of those wind-up radios; a box of waterproof matches; an emergency blanket; four 125ml water pouches to the specification of the US Coast Guard and a 2400 calorie food bar, again US Coast Guard approved, both food and water approved for a five-year lifespan.

Other items that need to be considered in with the 72 hours survival supplies food and gear are a pack of tissues, first aid kit, wet naps and something suitable for outdoor wear like an emergency poncho or waterproof fleece jacket. Add an N95 respirator mask, water treatment tablets, LED headlamp, and sanitation supplies similar to the chemicals used for those camping chemical toilet units. An in-depth survival box like the Deluxe Emergency Survival Bag, containing items such as these would make an acceptable wedding present or starter gift.

The Ghillie Suit is such an effective tool in targeting your enemy or prey, many have questioned its legality. In the United States at least, many communities do not prohibit the use of the Ghillie suit in public or while being used in group gaming, though when being utilized for hunting - several red flags are raised.

The Ghillie Suit’s realism, to the extent of going undetected by humans and animals and able to easily fool animals by covering and eliminating your human scent by scenting yourself up with natural environmental scents posses an “unfair advantage”. But are Ghillie Suits Legal? Because of the unfair advantage, in some states and hunting ranges - they might actually prohibit or limit the use of Ghillie Suits. While some state laws require hunters wear bright color when hunting as to give a “deer” a fighting chance for survival. To be completely sure, check your local police station or hunting license office for any Ghillie Suit laws that may limit the way you conduct your hunt.

In all, when you ask seasoned hunters, snipers, and military professionals, they will all tell you Ghillie Suits make all the difference. Hunting is easier with the Ghillie Suit, no questions asked. Ghillie Suits come in various shapes, sizes, colors, and designs - and are designed for the various environments they are optimal to be used in. Such styles include; the Desert Ghillie Suit, Mossy Ghillie Suit, Woodland Ghillie Suit, and Timber Ghillie Suit.

Ghillie Suits are highly effective and is no surprise why they are used by top tier snipers, and hunters all over the world!

A Ghillie Suit is a type of camouflage clothing that is designed to imitate heavy underbrush foliage. They are typically constructed from netting or cloth material, then attached with loose strips of cloth mixed with real or artificial twine, leaves and twigs. They are designed for hunters, snipers, military personnel, and even paintball enthusiasts to blend naturally into their surroundings.

Homemade Ghillie Suit

Ghillie Suits can be found in two construction “formats” - professionally manufactured or homemade Ghillie Suits. With two formats, there are two types of groups who use each. Military personnel and professional snipers tend to create their own “Homemade Ghillie Suit”. Military professionals tend to have a specific need for their Ghillie Suits to blend into their desired surroundings, which is why they make their own Ghillie Suits. Hunters and paintball enthusiasts tend to opt for the commercially manufactured Ghillie Suit.

Even for professionals, Ghillie Suits can take up to a minimum of 100 hours the entire creation process is tedious, meticulous, messy and very time consuming.

Ghillie Suits can be made from various materials and be in various shapes, colors, sizes and design. Military professionals use rough burlap flaps or jute twine for covering then attaching this material onto a poncho, full suit (usually a flight suit) or jacket. On the other hand, commercially made Ghillie Suits use cloth or netting, then attached with real or artificial leaves and twigs out of twine. Ghillie Suits are heavy in nature from their materials, but lighter Ghillie Suits are made from synthetic materials are easier to maneuver and are machine-washable.

Ghillie Suits that are commercially manufactured use durable fabric, as example is burlap, to construct the various parts of a Ghillie Suit. Next, to attach netting, invisible fishing line material is sewn on while glue is put on to add extra length. Jute is added by tying groups of strands to the netting. The webbing is seasoned in mud, manure and other materials to create the surroundings’ scent. This is done to remove the “processed” or factory smell. Getting a Ghillie to smell like the environment can be done in a number of ways that includes attaching the suit behind a car and driving around, soaking it in and applying manure. All this is done to trick your prey and make you smell more like a forest.

An emergency radio is a small radio that can be used in emergency situations like in a disaster or other such events. The radio may be serving the same purpose of listening to the local stations. An emergency however has a basic difference with standard radios as well. An emergency radio may or may not use battery power as a primary source of power for operation. These radios may take their power from the human (known as a dynamo radio) or from other sources like the sun (known as solar powered radios).

Hand Crank Emergency Radio

The advantage these radios can have over standard battery powered radio is that they can work on the power sources which may be readily available. A human hand and sun can be found almost anywhere whether in the forest or in a place that has been struck by a disaster. If the sun is not available like in the night, the radio can be powered by the hand. The point being that it may not be disabled for the reason that no battery power is available. And radio can sometimes help in listening to important news and updates which can also have some important instructions for the people of a specific area.

A hand powered radio can also be called a dynamo radio which has a small crank which is rotated to charge an internal built in battery used to power the radio. The operation time of the radio can vary because it may consume more battery when the volume level is high. The radio can be charged again so by rotating the crank so that it’s normal operation may continue.

A solar powered radio may have a small photovoltaic cell which can convert the sun’s rays into electrical energy. A solar powered radio may have a built in battery which is charges through the solar cells in order to run the radio. The size of the cell can mostly be enough to run the radio at normal volume level for the time when the sun is shining bright. If not used at that time, the radio’s rechargeable batteries can be charges by keeping it in the sunlight for later use maybe in the night.

Some of such radios may also have a small charging port for cell phones so that they may be charged from the solar energy or dynamo power in case a standard powered supply is not available.
